The National Centre for Biosecurity (NCB) is a joint centre of the Australian National University and the University of Sydney, established to facilitate greater academic engagement with biosecurity challenges facing Australia, Asia, and the world. These challenges include:
- infectious disease outbreaks
- biological weapons and bioterrorism
- dual use dilemmas in the life sciences
- laboratory safety and security, and
- the impacts of disease on economies, societies and governments
The NCB’s approach to biosecurity is multi-disciplinary and collaborative. Our expertise covers a wide variety of disciplines including microbiology, epidemiology, animal health, law, ethics, psychology, economics and international security studies.
